Energy of the Month: Two of Wands
The Two of Wands invites you to start planning your plan of attack. It’s not time to make any moves just yet, but to get your thoughts on paper. The cards have guided you to think about your long term goals and how your current goal fits into the bigger picture. Is this going to bring you closer to your big dreams? Or are you still playing small, grabbing at low hanging fruit? Don’t be afraid to be the visionary and to go after higher levels of success. You know your ideas are good and that you feel the potential for so much greatness in your spirit. That’s your intuition telling you You Can Do This!!
Two cards always represent choices and the Two of Wands is no different. This is about a choice of now vs. the future. Is it better to take shortcuts now and get lost later? The Two of Wands invites you to be honest about your dreams. Don’t give up just because it's hard and don’t take the obvious road just because it's easy. Explore your options before making any moves.
Obstacle: The Fool
Taking a risk is hard but the Fool is all about risks. There’s a tendency to paint the Fool as naive and inexperienced which is true. But these are strengths, not weaknesses. It’s true, he’ll have some serious growing up to do and there will inevitably be challenges along the way. But you can’t know what you don’t know and the Fool isn’t discouraged simply because he doesn’t know what to expect. He knows that he’s meant for more and is willing to take the risk to find out what “more” is.
Looking for love but afraid to put yourself out there? Want to start a business but quickly become overwhelmed looking at licenses and fees? Or maybe you’re doubting yourself, wondering if anyone really wants what you’ve got? All the greats have been there and every master started the same way the Fool does -- without any experience and having no idea what to expect. I’m not saying it will be easy but what dream worth its salt is?
Heal this: The World
I love having the Fool as the Obstacle and The World as the thing to heal because it means you need to start exactly where you are. I get it, we all want to fast forward to the success part! We all want to be the overnight success story that seemed to pop up out of the blue. But no overnight success happened overnight. It’s easy to get lost in the glamour shot of someone who’s made it, but make no mistake, they had to overcome their obstacles too. We look at Apple now as this mega brand but Steve Jobs was kicked out of his own company before coming back and turning it into this mega giant. George Clooney was barely making ends meet, living with his parents at 30 when he finally landed a role on ER. Tyler Perry may be a billionaire now, with his own production company but he was broke, living out of his car when he wrote the now famous Madea plays.
The point is that greatness, like that represented by the World, isn’t something that's ever handed to anyone. Even Kylie Jenner, having a handout in life, still had to put in the hard work for her success. So, to be successful, you must heal this concept of skipping the line. You want to be successful? Start where you are and do the work of climbing to the top. Think of it like this, you don’t want to be a charity case? But isn’t the universe handing you your goal in a gift wrapped box the same thing if you didn’t earn it?
Embrace this: Seven of Wands
A little competition does the soul good. The Seven of Wands comes right on the heels of the Six of Wands. I’ve seen some interpretations say that it means you’re in an enviable position and people want what you have. Perhaps some of that is true but I believe the true gift of this card is not to rest on your laurels. The Seven of Wands swoops in to remind you that there is always a battle out there in the world somewhere. There is always someone who’s willing to challenge you for top slot and those who get lazy are those who lose the race.
Of course, it’s annoying to have to defend your position but it also keeps things interesting. It challenges you and should motivate you to be innovative and to look for new ways to master your craft. You wouldn’t have reached the Six of Wands position if you were motivated by challenge anyway. And more than likely, you had to knock someone out of their spot or at the very least, learn to share the spotlight. So can you really be mad at someone else wanting to do the same?
There’s enough abundance in the universe to go round even if you have to fight a little harder to stay in the mix.
Take action: Nine of Pentacles
This reading seems to be all about reaching for BIG goals. With the Nine of Pentacles, the action to take is to learn the feeling of being abundant. Don’t be afraid to splurge a little or to invest in learning that new skill. Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself! Get the power suit if it gives you confidence. Marvel in your accomplishments if it motivates you for more. Sometimes you need the ego to remind you how amazing you are and how much more you still have to accomplish.
And more than just buying things, learn to appreciate abundance in all its forms. Look at trees, aren’t they abundant with leaves and greenery, blooms, and birds? Every Autumn, those leaves fall and all winter branches are bare. And yet, come Spring, trees explode with color. If that isn’t abundance, I don’t know what is. A tree doesn’t worry about losing its leaves because it knows, beyond doubt, that it will sprout again. The same goes for you. Don’t worry about not having enough because you will, without doubt, come into more again. It doesn’t matter how long it takes. All that matters is that you know the lows don’t last forever. Thanks for reading to the end. Take 20% off your next Spirit Element order with code "TWO WANDS."
